It was as though we were small children coming up under the ever-watchful eye of our platoon sergeants. We could approach people such as yourself with problems ever so small and expect an answer, often times as conforting as any dad could ever be. The loss of friends and brothers was felt as a tragic loss. The emptiness that is felt when someone special dies is unnatural to someone that cares. The lessons you taught through your life and death will be remembered by guys like me for the rest of our lives. Fly with the eagles, brother, and rest in God's care till we meet once again.

On Flag Day, 2007, I saw your name on the "killed in action" monument at the Henderson County Court Square in Lexington, TN along with all the other veterans from our other wars who, like you, gave the surpreme sacrifice, that we can remain free. Freedom comes with a price, it is not free. On behalf of all our local citizens, I want to say "Thank You" for the freedoms we enjoy. We honor you this day.

From a friend.
