1 May 2003 To my Dickie Lake Worth Pier Rat A Veteran's Prayer- I asked for strength that I might achieve, God made me weak that I might obey.. I asked for health that I might do great things, I was given grace that I might do better things.. I asked for riches that I might be happy, I was given poverty that I might be wise... I asked for power that I might have the praise of men, I was given weakness that I might feel the need for God... I asked for all things that I might enjoy life, I was given life that I might enjoy all things.. I received nothing that I asked for, My prayer was answered.. 14 Jul 2003 To My Pier Rat-Dickie, It has been one year of searching to find you... Next year, my husband and I will go and visit you and the family in Chatham... I will never forget how great you looked in your Army Uniform before you left for Vietnam... You will always be in my heart and in my soul... Paying The Price: Never will I forget,the price you have paid... Giving up your life, your happiness, All because we said,"Go, young man, fight the war, fight 'til you can fight no more". "Make us proud, show your pride." Now just hurt tears run so deep inside. How can I ever let you see, How proud of you I will always be... Dickie, I have found you and thanks to Wayne - I have the other men on that crash day... All of you are now a part of my life forever held dear... Rest in God's Arms, you are now a part of God's Army... 10 Dec 2003 Merry Christmas to you, Dickie, The promise, the spirit, the hope of America, May the Freedom that makes our country great, I realize that I am free because you had the courage to defend America ... And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the sacrifices you had made for our great country and for me, your Dear Friend.. Dickie, Clayton and I will see you next year in Chatham, Mass. When we knew each other, you were a teenager at the Pier. When you stepped into your Army uniform, you turned into One Great Man, no more a kid. The last time I saw you walking out the door in uniform you turned and looked at me and said "Nancy, I am coming back in a body bag". I told you with tears in my eyes "Dickie, do not say that again, you are coming back". We both did not know God wanted you with him, to serve in HIs Great Army. My heart still hurts for you and always will till the day we both meet again. Just think of all the chili dogs you can eat with onion rings. I miss you Dear Friend, with friendship - Nancy L.
