I have heard a lot about you.
I am sorry I don't remember you.
I was only 11 months when you passed over.

I know that you prayed hard, early in the morning,
and you were the official wood chopper.
I know that I have curly hair like you.
I know that you were a quiet man,
in fact people say that you let them run all over you.
I don't believe that.
I know you were just nice, and of a gentle spirit.

I look at Grandpa Baca and I see you,
for he is the same way.
I often hear that I am the same way.
I don't think that is bad.

I remember one time at a family gathering,
I was about 4 or 5 years old, every one was crying,
I did not know why,
I just remember my aunts talking and crying about Gabriel.
I miss not knowing you,
I know it was hard what you did, and I know you had no choice to go.

I know that you never wanted to hurt anyone,
I think sometimes, that it was a blessing you left early.
I know that a lot of people saw a lot and suffered a lot.
I know that you are in heaven waiting for us.
I know that Grandma Baca joined you a couple of years ago.
I kind of think Grandpa wants to go,
I know he misses Grandma and you.

I don't know much more, except that you were loved.
Give Grandma a kiss for me,
And touch Jesus,
I am sure we will see you soon.
