Known as "Bentley" or "Bob". Would give you the shirt off his back. Always for the "Under Dog". He should have gotten the Medal of Honor for the Battle of Ap Bac. I saw him personally charge and destroy half a dozen bunkers full of N.V.A. under enemy fire. His M.O.S. was a mechanic, but he went far beyond what many straight-leg infantrymen could do. He loved and enjoyed life. He took my place as driver of an A.P.C. and was killed near Kien Hoa when a mine was detonated beneath it. He was more than a friend to all who knew him. Still missed by your friends after all these years. He was one of the original "Bandido Charlie".
