30 June 2003 In Honor, Loving Remembrance and Tribute to Francis M. Beverly II. He was born in the country of Jamaica, came to New York state, and later lived in Alabama where he was finally laid to rest in 1969. He was an athletic, courageous, handsome and very loyal Airborne Pathfinder comrade who was a good friend, and whose best friends just called and knew him as "Bev". He had voluntarily extended his tour of duty in Viet Nam in order to remain there and protect and serve with his best friend, Lyle Thomas, Jr, because they had been comrades and friends ever since they first met each other in basic training, and continued to be assigned together through their AIT at Ft. Polk, LA, and onward to Jump School and Pathfinder School at Ft. Benning, GA in 1967. He lived his life and performed his duties up to the highest standards of the Airborne tradition and according to our Pathfinder graduation class motto: "We Have You Covered, You're In Good Hands!"

A Note from The Virtual Wall Seven men died when a 175th Assault Helicopter Company UH-1D (tail number 66-00879) was shot down in Kien Tuong Province: CPT John Phelen Roe, pilot, 175th AHC WO1 James Dale Earnest, pilot, 175th AHC SP4 Robert Lee Glasgow, crew chief, 175th AHC SP4 Robert Joseph Whites, gunner, 175th AHC LTC Martin Robert Beck, passenger, B-41, 5th SF Grp CPT Louis J. Geneseo, passenger, A-414, 5th SF Grp SGT Francis M. Beverly, passenger, 114th AHC Sergeant Francis M. Beverly is remembered by his comrades in arms from the 114th Assault Helicopter Company . On Saturday, 27 May 2000, a simple granite monument dedicated to 70 members of the 114th Aviation Company who died in Vietnam was unveiled at the Georgia Veterans’ Memorial State Park in Cordele, Georgia.
