Ronnie was a great guy, we had great times. He enjoyed spending time with his younger brother and sister, Mark and Beverly. He watched out for them... He always liked Juicy Fruit gum. I still have the last pack he opened just before he left along with movie tickets and a pack of big red gum (they were out of Juicy Fruit). He loved his old car and let me drive ONCE. I hit a mail box so once was only the chance I got. We laughed all night about that. He liked to spend time with his Mom ... he liked to dance and go to drive-in movies and just hang out with family and friends. He drove from Kirtland to Mentor to pick me up from school a lot when he was home. We had some of our greatest talks then. Mike and Gary spent a lot of time with him. He always had a smile, the kind that warms your heart and made you feel good even when you were having a bad day. He stood up for family and friends and his Country .. . who could ask any more than that? I have since married and had a family but I think of him always and he will always have a piece of my heart. He was my first love and I will never forget what we shared together. He always said "Just be Happy and I will be Happy too". I have lost many, I have loved and now they are together. Some day I hope to see them all again ... smiling as they all did here. We miss you all and think of you often and we will never forget all you have done ... Always in MY heart ... miss ya!

Ron, I have not forgotten you since your death on April 20th 1969. As your Squad Leader we did our best that day. April 20 is a very hard day for me to get through, I shall always remember you in my heart.

A Note from The Virtual WallPfc Buchanan was killed when a road sweep team was engaged about 5 kilometers west of Cam Lo village. An Army M42 "Duster" was with the Marines; three soldiers were wounded when the M42 struck a mine. Two NVA soldiers were killed in the engagement. |
