Bob was special to me for many years. We lived in the same neighborhood in Michigan, went to the same church, schools, and did a lot of neighborhood activities together. The neighborhood 'gang' played softball often as well as a lot of our own made-up games. He tried to teach me how to play tennis once, but that was a total flop on my part. He never lost patience with me though! We lost touch after he graduated and his parents moved to Florida, but the news of his death in our hometown newspaper was very hard for me. I'd love to get in touch with his children to let them know what a special dad they had.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 25 Jan 1966 elements of the 1st Cavalry Division were redeploying in preparation for Operation Masher, a division-size sweep mission. A C-123B Provider (tail number 54-0702) transporting troops from An Khe to Bong Sen went down in Binh Dinh Province. Four aircrewmen and 42 troopers from 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry, were killed in the accident.
