I was almost 4 years old in 1968 when Sergeant Boyle, age 28, was killed in action in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. I was playing with my toy trains and digging holes in my backyard while Sergeant Boyle and others like him were fighting and dying in Vietnam. Sergeant Boyle was a career soldier in the 1st Infantry Division who began his service to our nation at age 17. I learned of Sergeant Boyle and his sacrifice for our nation when I was a teenager. After being introduced to my new girlfriend's mother I asked my girlfriend where her daddy was. She said, "He died in Vietnam." I never forgot those words. I went on to serve in the Army several years later though not in a combat situation. Sergeant Boyle's daughter later married a soldier and they are living happily with their children here in the States. Sergeant Boyle and the others like him deserve to be memorialized. I will never forget his sacrifice nor will I ever suffer his enemies to conquer this nation.
