Jerry Baxter

Wonderful Son
Good Friend
Sad Loss

All of us who knew you remember your wonderful spirit of kindness and generosity. We know how you treated everyone as if they counted and we mourn the fine man, husband and father you would have been.

I didn't know Jerry well because he was new to the Troop, but the CO thought very highly of him. I was flying the helicopter that recovered his body. That memory is still with me.

I am helping paint the markings on an AH-1 that Jerry no doubt flew (as did I). It will be put on permanent display at the Veterans' Museum in Tampa. Jerry's name will be under the front seat on the right side in memory of his sacrifice. Sam Roberson, the Pilot in Command who died with Jerry, will have his name under the back seat on the right side.
