IN REMEMBRANCE OF A FINE CO AND FRIEND

HERBERT HAMBLY BUTT JR

Major US ARMY 088021
Sep 11, 1936 to Jan 29, 1968
Viet Nam Memorial, Panel 35E - Row 059

As in the Words of JESUS:

"NO GREATER LOVE HAS A MAN THAN THIS,
THAT HE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS."

I was one of those friends and he made the Supreme Sacrifice for us.
Herb Butt was not only my Commanding Officer, he was my friend and
there was no finer man or soldier. I served with him from 1961 to
1964 with D Company, 2nd Bn, 35th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division.
The photo above was made on the "Big Island" of Hawaii in July 1962.

I would really love to hear from others that served with him and of course his family.

He was my favorite CO during my 10 years.
