It is for us the living who enjoy the freedom so hard fought for by brave young boys like Louis to never forget their sacrifice. To that end, if you see a soldier go and shake his hand and thank him.

From a person who respects a soldier and has a son named Louis,

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Operation DECKHOUSE I put Battalion Landing Team 3/5 ashore south of Song Cau, Phu Yen Province, to conduct search and destroy operations along the Highway QL-1 corridor. While the Marines did not establish major contact with enemy forces there were a number of platoon and squad engagements between the initial landings 18 June and termination on 28 June. Four Marines were killed during those 10 days:
  • F Btry, 2nd Bn, 11th Marines
    • Cpl Charles H. Hill, Fond Du Lac, WI (06/22/1966)

  • H&S Co, 3rd Bn, 5th Marines
    • Pfc Terry W. Buckler, Fenton, MI (06/18/1966)

  • L Co, 3rd Bn, 5th Marines
    • LCpl Willie L. Collier, Birmingham, AL (06/24/1966)
    • Pfc Louis X. Cabrera, Blue Island, IL (06/18/1966)
On 28 June BLT 3/5 went under control of the Army's 1st Cavalry Division to provide a blocking force in the Song Cau river valley northwest of Tuy An. On 30 June, Cpl Ernest E. Perez of Mike 3/5 was killed in a squad engagement. The BLT was withdrawn from the area on 02 July without further losses.
