"Larry", known in-country as "Chuck", was my brother and I can't believe that he has been gone 35 years this week. He was my older brother and we all miss him terribly to this day. If anyone out there knew him in Vietnam or otherwise, I'd love to hear from you. It keeps him alive somehow. Thanks.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

During a night mission on 21 Jul 1968 a UH-1H (tail number 67-17415) of C Company, 227th Assault Helicopter Battalion, was at a landing zone west of Camp Evans at UTM grid coordinates YD366217. The aircraft was holding in a hover while sling loading supplies when its tail rotor was shot off. The aircraft immediately went into uncontrolled flight and crashed, killing all four men aboard:

  • SP5 Robert Warren Parent, gunner
