A Note from The Virtual Wall

Operation DEWEY CANYON was intended to disrupt North Vietnamese operations and infrastructure in the northern parts of the A Shau Valley. On 21 Feb 1969 Alpha Company 1/9 lost three men in the Valley near La Hang:
  • LCpl Robert D. Christiansen, Oklahoma City, OK;
  • Pfc Randall M. Carlton, Harrington Park, NJ; and
  • Pfc Edward D. Powers, Marissa, IL.
