John Calvin Clark II was a Captain in the United States Air Force when he went missing on February 5, 1969. His remains were returned in 1995 and identified in 1997. Captain Clark and 1Lt. Patrick K. Harrold were pilots flying F-4E Phantoms and were dispatched on an operational mission over Laos. Their mission would take them to the northeast edge of the Plain of Jars. Ten miles northwest of Nong Het, the Phantom was shot down and the crew declared missing in action.
