CPL WILLIAM EUGENE CARLSON

Billy,

Your smile is still with us, though you've been gone many years
You fought our countries battles, and we were left with tears,
So far from Minnesota, you went and wouldn't complain
In Binh Long you gave your life, but surely not in vain.

A warrior from a small town, standing tall, standing strong
You gave your life with honor, and your memory lives on,
With every passing year, I feel so much older
But I remember my cousin, who was an Army soldier.

He was too young to die, in a land so far away
But God took him, on a wet, November day
Until we meet again my cousin, may you bask in God's glory
As for the generations coming, I'll tell them a little story

A story of honor and valor, for which you gave your life
I'll be honored to tell them, for the rest of my life.
I'll not say it quietly, I'll tell em nice and loud,
I'll tell them of you cousin, and of you, we're very proud.

Steven Carlson
