To My Brave Brother John:

You had to do what what you had to do. I love you and have missed having you in my life these past 31 years. I thought that you would come home. I can see your face and almost hear your voice.

It was 31 years ago today that your young life was lost. May God bless you and continue to keep the sweet memories that I have of you in my heart.

Thank you for caring so much for me.

Love,
Your Little Sister Karen

I served with HHC 3rd Bde 9th Inf Div, at Bear Cat, then south to Dong Tam/My Tho, in 1966-67. Just wanted to add a thought to a fellow unit member, even though we served in that unit years apart:

"My friend, you went when it was not the most popular thing to do, and you served where others would not go, and you gave up your life in a place damn few had ever heard of, but you served, and that is what stands as an example of your attitude and your bravery. Your memory is now a part of mine, for finding you here, and each time I visit The Wall, I will find you, and I will touch you, and I will remember you... although we never met, I feel a kinship with you. I look forward to the day I go to The Wall again, touch your name, and whisper, "Welcome home, my brother." Thank you for your service, for your sacrifice, and for reminding me of the value and the importance of what we both, as well as all our brothers and sisters who were there, have done. I salute you and I appreciate what your memory represents. Peace, my brother... and in Heaven, Charlie Mike... continue the mission."
