A Euclid Army lieutenant, missing in action since March 28, 1968, was reported killed in Vietnam on that date. 1Lt. William Charles Dimagard, 22, son of Ernest C. and Harriet (nee Dyne) Dimagard of 19231 Genesee Road graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1963 and attended Notre Dame and Cleveland State Universities before enlisting in the Army in April of 1966. He was commissioned at Ft. Benning, Ga, took jungle training in Panama and was sent to Vietnam after spending Christmas with his parents. His parents said their son had intended to become a doctor but changed his mind while at Notre Dame. He worked fulltime at Halle's while attending Cleveland State and still managed to maintain a "B" average. Born March 31, 1945, he was very concerned about his place in the world and felt it was his duty to serve in Vietnam. The Dimagards have another son, Patrick. His parents were later notified that their son, had been awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. 1Lt. Dimagard was first listed as missing in action and later was determined to have been killed by enemy small arms fire while on a mission with the 47th Infantry in Dinh Tuong Province.
