To Scott

I sit and think why! But I never hear the words SCOTT FREESTONE. All the things he could have done and all the things he could have been. WHY!

I hope your friends and family are doing well. We will never forget you.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Spencer Scott Freestone died of wounds on 15 Feb 1968, but The Virtual Wall does not know for sure when he was wounded.

The 25th Infantry Division's Operational Report for the period says C Co, 2nd Bn, 18th Infantry, lost four men in a fight at Hoa Loi (2) hamlet, 8 kilometers north of Phu Cuong city, on 12 Feb. It is believed SP4 Freestone was wounded at Hoa Loi and died three days later. The four were

  • SP5 Ronnie J. Hoffman, Del Rio, TX (medic from HQ & A Co, 1st Med Bn);
  • SP4 Spencer S. Freestone, Holland, MI (DoW 15 Feb 68);
  • SP4 John M. Rupert, New Hyde Park, NY; and
  • PFC Dennis D. Nagelkirk, West Olive, MI.
