Sergeant Major Graham was the Command Sergeant Major of the 3rd Marine Division and he started his tour on 24 March 1968. The Dong Ha Combat Base came under a 130mm Rocket attack, the fragmention wound to the head and body from an incoming rocket explosion. Three Marines were killed as a result of the attack. They were:

Sergeant Major Graham was survived by his wife, Ruth V., son Steven L., daughter Margaret E. Graham, all of Pearl City Hawaii. He was also suvived by his Mother in Law, Ella Gotschalk, Hawaii, father, Ralph T Graham, Crab Orchard, Nebraska and brother, Ralph W. Graham, Marrero, Louisiana. SgtMaj Graham was pre-deceased by his mother Jessie C. Graham.
