Bill Hardwick was a close friend from the age of 10 until his death at age 20. Bill had a rare combination of sincere regard for people, humility, sense of humor, fearlessness and was a top-ranked athlete. While Bill had all of the brains and physical talent a person could want he also had a genuine kindness and warmth for people. It was his internal goodness and strength and the kindness and fun he projected to others that stay in the hearts of those of us who have missed him so much for the past 35 years.

Bill left a loving wife, Becky, his first love from age 13; a close and loving family; and many, many friends.

Bill, rest in peace, we miss you.

Bill Hardwick and I were friends in high school and he was a great guy and had many friends in Dallas. I know Bill's wife, Becky, who has for many years suffered from the loss of her husband. I was as shocked as anybody when I heard of the loss of a fellow Marine. I received this information via mail from my spouse during boot camp at MCRD San Diego. Seeing his name on the Moving Wall is as emotional as the memories that flow back to this outstanding person whose life was ended in Vietnam.

Bill, your sacrifice and courage will not be forgotten.
