Robert, you didn't know me. I am a friend of your brother-in-law, Robert Smith, here in Houston. I was at Cu Chi in 1966 with the 25th Infantry Division. We here praise and honor you. You and the other men and women on the Wall are blameless. Your country called and you served with honor. You paid the ultimate price and we thank you for your service. We grieve your passing in an honorable cause. Thank you again and we send our love to you.

As we are about to observe Memorial Day, 2006, I wanted to remember my friend and date for our Teague High School Junior-Senior Prom in 1965. I will always remember Billy Bob for how much fun he was to be with!

The sacrifice is not forgotten.

My name is Kimball Cedric Perrin. I am the son of Herbert (Tim) Goodwin Perrin II who served with William during the war. We are originally from Sherman, Maine but I now reside in Greenville, SC. I was born on October 16, 1973 and was named after William but my father only knew he was from Texas and by his last name, Kimball. Unfortunately, my father passed away on December 31, 1975 but my mother told me how I received my name. When I was younger I went to the Vietnam Memorial and was unable to locate him. My sister and mother led me to this site and I have longed for this moment to tell any living relatives or friends that I was named after William. All of those men fought bravely and regretfully sacrificed their own lives. If anyone who reads this knows the family please make them aware that their son's name was carried on proudly.

Billy Bob,

We first met in second grade when our family moved back to Teague. All through school you were one of my closest friends. I did 4 years in the Corps and came back to Teague to live and raise my family. I often think of you and many other friends I lost.

God Bless you.
