Robert "Bubba" Shelton King, Jr. was my uncle. He was killed before I was even born. I don't know too much about him. It has always been hard for my father and the family to talk about him. I do know that he was a jokester.

If anyone could provide me with any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 08 Oct 1969 Lima Company, 3rd Bn, 4th Marines was under the operational control of 2nd Bn, 4th Marines, assisting with security sweeps along Highway QL-9 which ran from the Dong Ha area west into Laos. As night approached 3rd Plt Lima 3/4 established a night position near the Khe Gio Bridge about 11 kilometers west-southwest of Cam Lo. An entry in the 2/4 Marines' Command Chronology for Oct 69 describes what occurred shortly after midnight:
