Larry and I arrived in the 2/27 Wolfhounds the same day. We became good friends. Our first fire fight was something else - we became lost from the rest of the platoon. After heading in the direction of the battle we finally found the platoon.

Larry made friends quickly and we were not the new guys long. The platoon took off one night on a ambush patrol and ran into a battalion of NVA troops who were going to attack the company area. We were in hot soup. Lt. Jones said use only grenades after the first few minutes. Then they swept over us. We lost some good men that night includuing Larry. I will always remember Larry and his quick smile.

Larry it has been 36 years since we were overrun in that rice paddy.
I still think of the good times - that was not one of them.
What a difference you would have made on the world if you have lived.
