Whiskey Battery was at Gia Le. LCPL Krebs died when the 155mm high explosive round being fired blew up in the tube. Also killed was PFC Wilbur Gray. Five Marines were wounded.

Even though I did not know LCPL Krebs I am from his unit and want him to be remembered.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

The 1/11 Marines' Command Chronology for the month contains the following entry:

LCpl Krebs' Presidential Letter of Condolences file at the LBJ Library indicates that he was assigned to the 1st Armored Amphibian Company, but that unit's Command Chronology does not list him as a casualty. LCpl Krebs may have been on a temporary assignment with 1/11 (Whiskey Battery was a temporary unit) or a recent transfer to 1/11.
