REMEMBERED

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Veterans' groups across the country frequently "adopt" servicemen who died in service. Sometimes the "adoptees" are home-town men, sometimes not ... but regardless of the connection between the group and the "adoptee" the reason remains constant: Those of us who came home feel an obligation to remember and honor our comrades-in-arms who did not.

The Arrant-Smith Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4127 in Homestead, Florida, has "adopted" four people - three servicemen and one civilian medical missionary:

  • LCDR Ralph Campion Bisz, USN, Attack Squadron 163
Shot down 04 Aug 1967, North Vietnam. Died in captivity; body not recovered.
    Miami, Florida

  • MAJ Dennis Paul Neal, Army, 5th SF Group, MACV-SOG
Missing in Action, Laos, 31 July 1969; body not recovered.
    Tarpon Springs, Florida

  • Pvt Dennis Clark Knutson, USMC, M CO, 3RD BN, 9TH MARINES
Died of injuries received, 24 July 1966; body recovered.
    Sioux Falls, South Dakota

  • Eleanor Ardel Vietti, civilian, Christian & Missionary Alliance
Abducted from the Ban Me Thuot Leprosarium, 30 May 1962. Died in captivity; body not recovered.
    Fort Worth, Texas
