David E Kuczynski

Captain Kuczynski served two tours in Vietnam according to photograph next. In it, he is wearing a 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) patch on his right shoulder which indicates a war time unit served. The brass on his lapel shows he was an officer in the Engineer Branch and he was awarded several unit awards as indicated by 3 ribbons above right breast pocket, one being a Presidential Unit Citation. Also as shown in photo he has his first Purple Heart and he was jump qualified.

CPT David Edward Kuczynski was killed in action as a result of the detonation of a booby trap while on a combat operation.

He was survived by his mother Irene Eleanor (Wdowinski) Kuczynski (1921-2016), father Edward John Kuczynski (1915-1982), brother Dennis, and sister Elizabeth (Betty). CPT Kuczynski is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington Virginia. His parents are in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Showing on his marker is both of his Purple Hearts - one on his first tour with 1st Cavalry Division and 2nd upon his death.
