1 Aug 2004 James Landrum was born in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and split time between there and Seminole, Texas, where he attended schools in both places. James was killed in action on July 29, 1969 while serving as a military policeman with the 23rd Military Police Company. He was married. He is honored by the Gaines County Vietnam Memorial in Seminole, Texas, and by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans Memorial located at the Midland International Airport, Midland, Texas. A Note from The Virtual Wall The 23rd MP Company, Americal Division, lost two men on 29 July 1969: SGT James A. Landrum and SP4 Edward J. Halbert of Steelville, Missouri. The two men detonated a 105mm round rigged as a mine while on patrol in a sand pit outside the wire at LZ Bronco.
