THE WALL

I went to see The Wall today
And though I know it sounds cliche,
I DID get on my knees to pray
And thank those who died for us all.

I had a hard time comprehending
The names...seemingly without ending,
And all the people who were sending
A message to someone on The Wall.

Although I came with a single purpose,
(To find the name of my Uncle Les)
I couldn't leave until I'd seen the rest-
I just stared with sadness and awe.

So I ask everyone not to forget
The name and memory of every Vet
who in Vietnam their death met,
And are memorialized on
The Wall.
