John Patrick Meloy is the eldest son of Harold P. and Mary Connery Meloy, born August 22, 1948, in Dubuque, Iowa.

He died in combat in Vietnam on December 10, 1968. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Alpha Company, 1/327th Infantry, lost three men to enemy gunfire on 10 December 1968. Two were infantrymen and the third was a combat reporter from the 101st Airborne's admin battalion. They were 12/10/1968
