My Uncle was killed seven years before I was born. I don't know much about him as it is still very difficult for my grandmother and father to talk about. I saw that his name was not on The Virtual Wall site so I decided to submit it. I wish I could have had the chance to know him.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

The 2nd Combined Action Group's Operations Summary for August 1970 contains the following entry for 30 August:
"A CAP 2-3-1 patrol base at BT073585, 500 meters east of Dien Ban District Headquarters, received 3 ChIcom grenades from an USEF [unknown size enemy force] in an unknown location. The patrol base did not return fire for lack of a discernable target. Two USMC and 1 USN were WIA from the exploding grenades. The 2 USMC and 1 USN were medevaced by helicopter. A sweep of the area was nonproductive."
Sergeant Gary K. More was one of the two Marines wounded in the grenade attack; he died of his injuries.
