I was in the same Med Company with Bob Mackey, when we both were sent to the field (Delta, 3/1st) at the same time. My Company was at LZ Cork during the field operations when Bob was killed. I heard he was shot by a sniper while trying to assist another wounded soldier (a major concern for medics at that time).

Bob was one of the medics I often socialized with before we went to the field. He was a very bright and fun loving person. His loss was heavily felt by medics in the 6th Support Battalion.

The attached photo was taken by me sometime before we were infused to the field, about June 1968.
