20 Nov 2003 The photograph of Theodore R. Mason is taken from Octorara Area High School yearbook, class of 1968. The following article appeared in The Daily Local News (West Chester, PA) on February 13, 1971: A 21-year-old Atglen soldier has been killed in action in Vietnam. He had been in the war-torn country for five weeks. PFC Theodore R. Mason of Atglen RD1 entered the Army in August last year (1970). He was sent overseas January 8 and assigned to the First Cavalry Division in Vietnam. He was a son of Blanche Miller Mason and the late Theodore Mason. A lifelong resident of Atglen, he graduated from Octorara Area High School in 1968 and was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church. Before entering the service PFC Mason worked at Nupak Co., Parkesburg (PA), and Chertok's Furniture Store, Coatesville (PA). Besides his mother, he is survived by a brother, Richard, of Coatesville; seven sisters, Mary, wife of Joe Burns of Coatesville; Margaret, Patricia, Dorothy, Carol, Joan and Denise, all at home and his maternal grandfather, Preston Miller of Atglen.
