Master Sergeant Metcalf was killed in action on 5/21/71. He was driving a jeep in Cam Ranh Bay with my father (Captain James W. Peterson) when the jeep overturned and killed them both. I would like to get to know the Metcalf Family. My father and Sergeant Metcalf were good friends and I hope to share some stories.

Sincerely,
Eric Peterson

Eddy was my half brother - he was 12 years older than me. This is an old photo that my mother had. It is the only one I have other than snapshots. He started his military career as a paratrooper, I believe in 1950 or 51. I was told that when the Koreans made "the push" his job was to jump into the front lines and blow the bridges to slow down their advance. As I was told he was so close to the front lines that a sniper kept him pinned down under a jeep all day. When his knees gave out, he transferred to demolitions. I understand that this was his last tour before he retired. He left a wife, a son and a daughter.
