Well here I am in Vietnam,
Doing my best for Old Uncle Sam.
It's not really a lot,
But we're dying for the same reason our forefathers fought.
I say we but, not actually me, but thee,
The ones that die help keep our land free.
You could say I'm not much of a G.I.,
But at least I know and understand why we die.
Yes, I volunteered for V.C. land,
If only I'd thought it over and made a few more plans.
Now I'm dying in this far off land,
And I can almost hear old Gab's band.
