25 May 2004 Tribute to Richard Ramirez, Jr. At home with God Richard will forever live in our memories and in the hearts of his family and friends. Richard will always be our wonderful Son, Brother, Uncle and Nephew. Gone but not forgotten. We love you and miss you. Richard was the second to the oldest child of 6 children born to first generation Mexican-Americans. He grew up on a farm in southern Arizona and helped his parents until the day he left to serve his goverment. He was an honest, hard working person. He always thought of others before himself. His father became handicapped in a farming accident and Richard became the man of the house at a very young age. Richard had no childhood. Even in the service the few months he was in he supported his parents, brother and sisters financially. He left college to help earn money for the family and instead was drafted. He is missed dearly by his family and friends. This marks his 34th aniversary. Richy left us with many memories. Love you, Your Sister Phyllis In Loving Memory Happy Birthday, Brother. 06 Jul 2006 Richie, you are missed and constantly thought of these days as I grow older. I often wonder what you would think of Iraq? of the state of our country? I know you would, if you were able, be there fighting right beside your soldier brothers and sisters. You were one of those "One for all and all for one" types and for that reason you will always be my hero. You always took such good care of your family whether related (us) or not (your Army brothers). A Note from The Virtual Wall On the morning of 19 August 1968 A Troop, 3/4th Cavalry, was ambushed while moving from Cu Chi to Tay Ninh on Highway 26. Elements of the 1st Bn, 5th Infantry, and 4th Bn, 23rd Infantry, were introduced into the fight. Later in the day, B Company, 1/5 Infantry, was tasked with escorting a unit from the 3/4th Cavalry, into Dau Tieng. Shortly before 7 PM, the combined force was hit by rocket-propelled grenade fire, damaging several APCs and tanks. Supporting arms fires were called in, allowing the force to move through the ambush area, arriving at Dau Tieng just before 8 PM.
