A Note from The Virtual WallThe following entry is taken from the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines' Command Chronology for May 1967:
The "40mm vehicle" was an M-42 "Duster", a tracked vehicle equipped with dual 40mm anti-aircraft cannons. Translated, the entry says that at 2:50 pm Lima 3/3 reported a Duster overturned on Highway QL-9 about 2 kilometers south-southeast of the Ca Lu airfield. By 3:55 pm three injured Marines had been medevaced. By 5:05 pm a recovery vehicle had lifted the Duster off four men pinned beneath it - one Marine and three soldiers.
