Joseph L Rhinehart

PFC JOSEPH LEE RHINEHART

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Joseph's last name is spelled two different ways in various sources:
Rhinehart and Rinehart

Joseph's surname is spelled as RHINEHART
  • On his DD1300 (Report of Casualty);
  • In DoD Press Release 511-67 dated 01 Jun 1967;
  • On the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall;
  • In the USMC's official casualty database and
  • In the West Virginia State Veterans Database.
It is spelled RINEHART
  • A Stars And Stripes newspaper in 1967;
  • On the DD1330 Grave Application signed by his father Albert E. Rinehart (and consequently on the gravemarker) and
  • In the obituary below.
Apparently the family was known in the community as RINEHART but Joseph chose, for whatever reason, to serve as RHINEHART. Since his official Department of Defense documents show his name as RHINEHART and his name is carved on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as RHINEHART, we have kept his listing that way on The Virtual Wall.

Kenneth J. Davis, of The Coffelt Database provided the information above.
