This in honor of an uncle I never met, but who is our hero... I always want to know a lot about him and every day I find something interesting about him and the unit he was in... I hope I will soon find someone who knew him and we can talk... God bless our military always!!!!

Even though I never met him, I have developed a deep admiration for ï¿ 1/2 on through the stories I have heard about him; for the kind of man he was and the kind of man he would have become. An intelligent young man who loved his family and went to war in hopes of improving his life, his family, his country ... his world. May his soul rest in peace.

My name is Jaime Perez. I served with Rosadito - that was the way I called him and will call him until I see him again. Rosadito was one of the or maybe the best soldier I served with during my 4 years and 4 months of service.

After 20 years of searching in Puerto Rico, up and down the Avenue de DeHosto in Ponce, PR, last week I got on the 27th Infantry site and read that somebody was looking for men who served with him in VN. Rosadito, I have a great relief and I feel I have accomplished a mission to get in touch with your family. I guess I was one of the last in contact. Que Dios te tenga en su escuadra como lo estuviste conmigo. Dale gracias al senor por tener un grupo de sobrinos[as] tan unidos palante panita boricua.

My name is Raul Rosado Rodriguez. Eugenio was my brother, one year older than me. When I came back from the Army I found out that he was already in. It was a big surprise and I told him that things were getting pretty bad in Vietnam.

Unfortunately, after that day I saw him only once. I was the person who received the bad news about him and had to tell our mother about it. I always regret that I never had the opportunity to share our teenage life.

Since then I have been having nightmares for the last 40 years since I believed I did not advise him about how critical the Vietnam war was. Actually I am disabled with PTSD. The last time I dreamed with my brother was last night, 6/15/07. I want to say that I loved him very much and always missed him. Thanks to Erica for starting this website, this has given me some peace of mind.

From his brother,
Raul Rosado

A Note from The Virtual Wall

The Boi Loi Woods lay about 25 kilometers northwest of Cu Chi. Like the nearby Ho Bo Woods, the Boi Loi was a long-time sanctuary for VC (and increasingly NVA) forces. When the 25th Infantry Division arrived at Cu Chi in early 1966 a major objective was to reduce the value of these areas to the enemy - and that meant extensive search-and-destroy missions.

On 19 July 1966, Company A, 1st Bn, 27th Infantry was conducting such a mission in the Boi Loi Woods when it was ambushed by a main force VC battalion. Twenty-four Americans died in the bitter fight which followed. They were
