It was 10-11:00 at night and we had three or four emergency medivacs. One, David Call, had been shot in the chest and was probably going to die unless he got to the hospital in Danang. One helicopter had already been shot down. When the second one came Clyde Saxon, the platoon radio man, left the safety of the bomb crater to help the helicopter land. While bringing it in he was shot and killed. Clyde received a Silver Star.
