A Note from The Virtual Wall The US Naval Forces Vietnam Command History for 1968 contains the following entry: "On the morning of 3 November three PCFs along with VNN Coastal Group 41 units with a Regional Force Company embarked carried out a raid up the Ong Doc River, 65 miles south of Rach Gia on the Gulf of Thailand. While PCF-36 remained a few miles from the river mouth to support a Regional Force sweep to the south, PCF-43 and PCF-50 proceeded to a point 10 miles up river to take suspected enemy positions under fire. Sniper fire was received killing the after mount operator of PCF-50. During the operation USS DuPONT (DD-941) and USCGC INGHAM (WHEC-35) provided 5" naval gunfire support."
