A Note from The Virtual Wall

During Operation HICKORY the 1st AMTRAC Battalion was responsible for conducting infantry sweeps between the Cua Viet River and the Delimitarized Zone. The engagement resulted in 25 dead NVA soldiers and 29 wounded Marines, 16 serious enough to require medical evacuation. One of the 16 died of his wounds during evacuation - Pfc James. H.
