On May 11, 1970 the 281st Assault Helicopter Company lost four of its top crew members in a rocket and mortar attack on their compound at Pleiku, South Vietnam. Each of these individuals distinguished themselves as highly respected crew members and trusted friends to all and they shall not be forgotten. They are:
  • SP5 Joseph W. Cunningham, Jr.,
  • SP5 Scott Eugene Sutherland,
  • SP4 Danny Joe Taulbee, and
  • SP5 Daniel Joseph Vaughan
SP5 Scott Eugene Sutherland has been adopted by J.R. Saunders of the 281st AHC Association who is preparing his "Book Of Remembrance" for the 281st AHC web site
