Irwin was a good friend and "Homie". We shared a common home town, New York City, and spent long hours together reminiscing.

He was clever, intelligent, and so much fun to be with.

I deeply regret his loss. I deeply regret lacking the courage to meet his parents, upon my return home.

From a friend.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

The "Hill" mentioned above was Hill 881 South near the combat base at Khe Sanh. India Company, 3/26 Marines, with attachments from Mike 3/26 and other Marine units, defended Hill 881S throughout the siege at Khe Sanh. Captain William Dabney commanded the Marines on Hill 881S, and today he maintains a web site in honor and remembrance of the

Warriors of Hill 881S
