The article above also mentions PFC John Richard Horton, from Liverpool New York, who was killed in a firefight during his first month in Vietnam.

A little more background information for the family shows the following information about Andrew's mother: "Pearl Stein Enders, 87, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 3, 2010. Pearl, a lifelong resident of Central New York, moved to Florida eight months ago to be with family."

"Pearl, a graduate of North High School, worked at Western Union and was sent to work in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She also worked in Syracuse University's film library for 17 years. Pearl was an active Gold Star Mother. During the 1960s and '70s she wrote numerous articles about the Vietnam war that were featured in newspapers around the country. Pearl's love of writing has been appreciated by many, as her works have been published in Blue Mountain Arts cards and books, and is on permanent display at The New York State Fair's Veterans Memorial."

"She was predeceased in 2009 by her husband, Dr. Joseph Enders; in 1994 by her first husband, Andrew P. Stein; sons Andrew Jr., Matthew, and Adam; and her sister Jean Fonda. "

"Pearl is survived by her sons Neal Stein, Richard Stein and Christopher Stein; her brother, Carl Gehres; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews."

Research shows that Matthew, died in California at age 31 on April 5, 1988. Adam was serving with 24th Infantry Division in 1988 and passed away in 2009.

Pearl Stein Enders, Andrew P. Stein (A World War II and Korean Veteran), and Andrew Paul Stein, Jr. are buried in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse, New York.
