Private First Class Harry Kay Varner was killed in action near Plei Djering (West of Pleiku) on that fateful day of 20 Nov 1966. He was with the 2nd Platoon. I was the Platoon Sergeant of the 2d Platoon. PFC Varner arrived in the 2d Platoon, Company B, only on the 19 Nov 1966, the day before his death. I remember talking to him briefly the night that he came into my Platoon. He was in the 2nd Platoon less than 24 hours when he was KIA.

He will never be forgotten and is sadly missed by me.
