CPL Donald Ray Webb was a former short time resident of Grass Valley for about a year and was well known to many of the younger residents of the area. He was only 20 years old. He was a driver on a mission when the convoy was fired upon. He was the only member of the unit killed in the incident. He had entered the Army the year before and was assigned to Vietnam on 10 Feb 1968. He had been married to his wife Margaret E. Web at Fort Bragg about 3 weeks before he departed for Vietnam.

Although Donald's mother Verleen (Wilson) Webb Brown (1922-2009) and siblings survived him, CPL Webb's father, Jake Edward Webb (1917-1960) preceded him in death. Jake Webb, from Arlington California, died of a heart attack attempting to visit his brother William in Gary Indiana on 1 Dec 1960.

CPL Webb is buried in Court of Honor, Mount Vernon Memorial Park, Fair Oaks, Sacramento County, California. It is unknown where his parents are buried.
