William was from Odessa, Texas, an oilfied city in West Texas near New Mexico. He volunteered for the draft and was inducted into the Marine Corps and was in his second week in Vietnam when he was shot to death two months shy of his 19th birthday. He is remembered on the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial at Midland, Texas and also by the Ector County Vietnam Memorial. May his sacrifice not be forgotten.
