The Virtual Wall is a web site where family and friends can leave personal remembrances to those men and women who died in the Vietnam War. We have all the database information, but we want to remember the fallen as individuals, not just an entry in a database. Therefore, The Virtual Wall only publishes personalized remembrances when people ask for them and provide some personal content. The Virtual Wall is not a complete listing of all Vietnam casualties; there are several sites which already provide that service, including www.no-quarter.org. Each name on our index pages leads to a memorial for that person, a memorial written by someone who had a personal connection to the man or woman being remembered.
Only the military women and men who died in the Vietnam war and who are listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington may be placed on The Virtual Wall. Any Vietnam veteran, both those who died in the war and those who died after returning to the US may be memorialized on the Taps Gallery of the Vietnam Veterans Home Page.
Please do not ask us to list every Vietnam casualty from your town or every casualty from your unit in Vietnam. Please ask for memorials or links that have some personal connection: a relative, a buddy in your unit or from training, a friend from school, or even a relative of a friend, or the man you wore a POW/MIA bracelet for - some kind of personal connection. If you wish to make a memorial site to all the casualties from your unit, we will be glad to help you with casualty information and we will link to that memorial from our Units and Groups index.
Each memorial request must stand on its own content, but we will include a link to a personal memorial site elsewhere on the Internet if requested - provided that site adheres to the rules below.
We wish The Virtual Wall to reflect the dignity and solemnity of the Wall. Therefore, the memorial pages that you create on The Virtual Wall must adhere to a few simple rules:
We reserve the right to decline or accept remembrance requests at our discretion.
- No commercials or advertising.
- No links to commercial sites.
- No statements for or against a specific political party or named public figures.
- No copyright infringements.
- No wording unsuitable for children to read.
Our promises to you in return:
- The rules above apply to us as well.
- We will not have commercials, advertising, or links to commercial sites.
- We will neither request nor accept contributions or donations.
- We will not send you email except regarding your memorial(s).
- We will not release contact information without your consent.
