CD-ROM copies of The Virtual Wall® www.VirtualWall.org
When The Virtual Wall® opened in March, 1997 we described our plans to "archive" the web site on CD-ROM's donated to partcipating museums and libraries. This should ensure that personal memorials published on the web site would also be preserved for future generations. Our first CD-ROM was received by the Vietnam War Library at Texas Tech University on May 23, 2001 and small number of CD-ROM's were distributed. CD-ROM's of The Virtual Wall will also be donated regularly to the Veterans History Project of the U.S. Library of Congress.

Specifications of the CD-ROM
Every six months, we plan to make "snapshots" of The Virtual Wall and record the whole web site on CD-ROM's. The CD-ROM's will contain all the personal memorial pages with photographs and text, and all the various index pages on The Virtual Wall. When used on a computer running Microsoft Windows operating systems, the CD-ROM will appear to be The Virtual Wall at the time of the snapshot. We hope to soon also work with Apple Macintosh computers.

The user's computer does not need to be connected to the internet to use the CD-ROM. Any internet browser you are using now will work with the CD=ROM, as should many browsers of the future, for we have endeavored to use only the most common html coding. Pages and photos can be printed from the browsers.

All persons who have submitted photos or text shall continue to own the copyright of their submissions. www.VirtualWall.org, Ltd shall own the copyright of the artistic presentation of the memorial pages, the index pages, and the unique arrangement of the collection.

Obtaining the CD-ROM
The project to make The Virtual Wall CD-ROM's available to the general public is on hold, due to technical difficulties and the lack of volunteers to work on all our projects.

When the CD-ROM's are available, we'll post that information on this page.

Please accept our apology for the delay.
