James J. Amendola, Sr. was killed on July 29, 1969.

His son was 3 months old and had never seen his father. His son is now the father of one daughter, step-father of three other children with another daughter to be born in May.

I have been looking for a Derry Gallagher of the Army with no success. With such an unusual name, I thought the search would be easy. He was the only person to attend my wedding to Jim in 1968.

Although I have remarried (after 19 years), not a day goes by when I do not think of Jim and how his life was cut short.

I still have a lot of love for the father of my only child.

Since I originally wrote about Jim much has changed. His son, Jay, is now the father of 3 daughters: Angela, Jayna and Kellyjean. Jim would be so proud of him.

From his wife,
